The UN International Day of Peace was celebrated in the main library in Oslo, Norway, on the 22nd September 2025. The title of the event was « Towards a Culture of Peace in Difficult Times ».
In a time marked by wars and conflicts, the aim of the program was to highlight hope for the future.
That fact the UN has its 80 years jubilee, that it is 15 years since the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted and that it is 25 years since the « international year of a culture of peace » is worth remembering and celebrating.
The Norwegian UPF leader spoke on the significance of these celebrations and the promising vision and programs that they represent.
Eight different faith communities participated and shared their thoughts and inspirations for a way towards a brighter future.
Among the speakers were The Quaker society, the Church of Norway, the Bahai Community, Sunni Islam, the Sikh community, the Ahmadiyya community, the Sri Lanka temple and the Hindu Community in Oslo.
As a final ceremony for peace all participants presented their individual white rose into one vase that became one common bouquet of flowers.
