Copenhagen, Denmark—An audience of about 200 attended the UPF-Denmark commemoration of UN International Day of Peace.

Ambassadors for Peace, representatives of NGOs, peace activists, and local politicians attended the event, which was held in the former Upper Chamber room of the Danish Parliament on September 22, 2019.

This year the UN theme for the Day of Peace was “Climate Action for Peace.” The event was hosted by MP Katarina Ammitzbøll and moderated by former MP Marion Pedersen, an Ambassador for Peace.

The speakers were:

Jens Hesselbjerg Christensen, a professor in climate physics at the Niels Bohr Institute of the University of Copenhagen, director of the Centre for Regional Change in the Earth System, and review editor at the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

Isabel Bramsen, a postdoc at the Centre for Resolution of International Conflicts of the University of Copenhagen.

Margrete Auken, a Danish member of the European Parliament for 15 years, a member of parliament for 23 years, a theologian and former Christian minister.

Michey Gjerris, an associate professor of bioethics at the University of Copenhagen, a theologian, and a former member of the Ethical Council in Denmark.

Lotte Heise, a well-known radio host and speaker.
