26 November 2024 - UPF North America and UPF EUME held a webinar on the theme "Peace in the Middle East: Can Non-governmental Organizations Make an Impact?"

Dr Arbia Ben Ammar, who served as a member of UPF's Global Peace Council from 2007, passed away on 4th June.

The contributions of women to the Culture of Peace are important not only because women represent the majority of the global population but also because women are key drivers of the radical change of mindsets and cultures.

Oujda, Morocco- Youth for Peace invited many religious and spiritual leaders to a meeting at the Moulay Slimane Fondation to celebrate the second World Interfaith Harmony Week. We celebrated by gathering together and  strengthening our ties, sharing news of our interfaith activities and our future plans; it was an occasion for meeting new friends and creating new partnerships.

In Islam, the beneficial use of water is best viewed from the perspective of the broad provisions against misuse of rights. Rights to water are governed by moral and legal regulations. The former require good conduct and consideration for others as well as conformity to accepted norms.

New York, United States- In a speech delivered at the New York City celebration of Africa Day, May 25, hosted by the African Union in partnership with the Universal Peace Federation, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said that peace and sustainable development in Africa was one of the world body’s top priorities. Does one need a catastrophe such as World War I or World War II? Or a third catastrophe, such as the Cold War? Or a fourth catastrophe, which we are experiencing in this moment, which is the economic crisis, to incite us to reform the outdated and anachronistic international institutions?

As we build good marriages and strong families, we can transform this world, as families become the agents of development and social transformation for peace in this world.

Cairo, Egypt- On the occasion of the UN International Day of Families, messages about the International Day of Families were circulated to about 75 people. On May 15 ten families (about 43 persons) met for lunch and to listen to a reading of the declarations about this commemorative day.
