Tbilisi, Georgia—UPF celebrated International Day of Peace 2022 by holding an online program for 12 children from refugee families.

During the interactive program on September 21, 2022, children of refugee families from the autonomous republic of Abkhazia were asked to write an essay or to draw a picture on the theme of International Day of Peace 2022: “End Racism. Build Peace.”

As the children were only 6 to 13 years, many had not much knowledge about racism. But because of the project, they searched for information and discussed it at home with their families and at school with their teachers. The parents and teachers were moved to see the pure heart that the children showed toward people with differences.

UPF-Georgia awarded textbooks and school supplies to the participants, who attend three different schools in Tbilisi. Because UPF consulted beforehand with the teachers, they knew which textbook each child needed. The children and their parents accepted the gifts with gratitude, as the school year had started recently.
