Working group meeting of the IAACP - Creating Value Through Art
On the evening of February 23, 2026, an online working group meeting of the IAACP (International Association of Arts and Culture for Peace), sought to address how we can create value through the arts. Artists communicate with their audience through their work, and what they convey matters greatly.
In addition to the discussion, we made plans for the year, and the peace ambassadors offered comments and suggestions for projects which we strive to incorporate into our work, thereby involving them more deeply in the IAACP’s activities. Our goal is for the peace ambassadors to feel that the IAACP is their own.
The Victims of Communism in the Greek Catholic Church.
On the evening of March 12, 2026, we held a deeply moving online lecture organized by the IAPD (Interreligious Association for Peace and Development), presented by Peace Ambassador Ildikó Olga Békés and entitled "The Victims of Communism in the Greek Catholic Church." People endured great suffering during this dark period of history, especially those who chose to serve God as their vocation. The speaker’s own family were victims of this persecution.
It was deeply moving and instructive to hear the sad story of the Greek Catholic Church; we can only bow our heads in reverence before the unshakable faith and courage of their martyrs and confessors.
We consider it important to listen to one another’s stories and, learning from them, to work within the framework of the IAPD so that every religious person can profess their faith without fear.
Almost all the way along the Silk Road.
On the afternoon of March 22, 2026, we had the opportunity to attend a very interesting lecture at the Peace Embassy delivered by Prof. Dr. Judit Balázs (economist, geopolitical expert, peace ambassador). She spoke about the culture, history and future role of some of the countries along the Silk Road that gained their independence after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Through the speaker’s personal experiences, we were able to travel to Bukhara, Samarkand, Tashkent, Baku and the beauty of the entire region unfolded before us during this engaging presentation. The unique history and current development of the former Soviet republics were particularly enlightening.
The audience also had an opportunity to pose questions, and at this point, the program turned into a lively conversation. Many in the audience were intrigued by the region’s unique cultural treasures.
Our goal is to introduce the unique cultures and values of different countries to those who participate in our programs, in the hope that culture can foster harmony among nations.
In harmony with the environment
It is important to protect our environment and live in an eco-conscious way, and an event entitled “In Harmony with Nature”, held at the Peace House on the afternoon of April 18, 2026, in anticipation of Earth Day, tackled this issue. The program began with a quiz prepared by a young student, which helped us warm up a bit for the presentation and refresh our knowledge of environmental protection.
Following this, our Ambassador for Peace Dr. Péter Mészáros (university lecturer, adjunct associate professor, transportation engineer, environmentalist), gave an overview of the importance of environmental protection, the milestones in the development of environmental awareness, and the situation in our country in light of all this. We are very grateful for the insight into the work of the Green Future Environmental Association, in which Dr. Péter Mészáros has been actively involved for decades, and we also thank the association’s members for their tireless efforts to preserve as much of nature as possible.
Following the presentation, we were able to discuss many exciting questions in a friendly atmosphere. We hope that those who attended were able to gain valuable knowledge through our program.
