Dr. Otsuka, Dr. Marion, Dr. Balcomb, Mother Moon and to all who are listening, good afternoon. Commitments in the House do not allow me to participate online, but I am pleased to send my message.
I have been a member of the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace since its founding in 2016 and have been a part of UPF for longer. As an Ambassador for Peace, I can testify to the great work UPF is doing around the world. I have been involved in dialogue and reconciliation processes especially in the Middle East and I am ready to continue in other parts of the planet as well. UPF's efforts under Mother Moon's leadership on every continent are exemplary.
The Korean people have been divided for too long. In order to facilitate the process of dialogue and reconciliation for a peaceful reunification of Korea, in which I strongly believe, as a politician involved locally, nationally and internationally, interdisciplinary work is important.
Since I am also involved at the cultural level, I am convinced that initiatives such as artistic ones in all the various disciplines and sports are immediate means of breaking down barriers.
In this, Italy and Korea have much in common. The 38th parallel also passes over our peninsula. We can organize together many initiatives of exchange with the 2 Koreas that have the same cultural and traditional roots. I am also available with my parliamentary colleagues to be an active part of this process.
I wish all of you involved in this International Leadership Conference good work and encouragement to move forward, especially towards the upcoming inauguration of Think Tank 2022.
Dreams always come true. Let us believe in dreams and give hope to the Korean people through our joint efforts. Thank you.
