We are pleased to announce that, on July 24, 2018, the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations re-classified the Universal Peace Federation’s consultative status from "special" to "general." This development indicates a growing trust and appreciation for the work of UPF around the world.
There are more than 5000 NGOs with consultative status, but only around 150 that have "general consultative status*." This positive re-classification, after a thorough and careful review by the ECOSOC committee, is an acknowledgement of the great work of UPF carried out in collaboration with Ambassadors for Peace and volunteers from the organization.
*General Category NGOs are fairly large international organizations which represent large segments of societies and concerned with most of the activities of ECOSOC and its subsidiary bodies and are closely involved with the economic and social life of the peoples and areas they represent.
