Neutrality law and theory, as well as Swiss neutrality, will be presented, followed by a brief overview of the numerous neutralization attempts of Korea in the post colonization era. In various scenarios, the application of the Swiss model to the Korean Peninsula will be observed, as ways to bring about internal and external stability, security, and peace.

The speaker, Mélanie Komagata, is enrolled in the Master's in Peace Studies program of the Unification Theological Seminary (New York). She recently graduated from the University of Geneva with a Master's in East Asian Studies, for which she wrote her thesis on the neutralization of the Korean Peninsula based on the Swiss model of neutrality, as a potential solution to security issues on the peninsula and in Northeast Asia.
