Over the past years, the Czech branch of UPF has organized monthly meetings of representatives from various religions for study, dialogue, and cooperation based on the study of World Scripture.
All the great religions of the world revere sacred scriptures which contain essential truths and have influenced the hearts, minds, and practices of billions of people around the world—in the past, present, and surely will continue to do so the future.
World Scripture – a Comparative Anthology of Sacred Texts, is a compilation of texts not only from the major religions, but also from lesser-known ones, and is designed to underscore the universality found within all religions and to demonstrate that there exists a vast sphere of spiritual common ground.
The introduction states: “Each religion has much value to contribute to humanity’s understanding of the truth, which transcends any particular expression. Humanity needs to discover the spiritual foundations of values to overcome the sterile materialist outlooks and philosophies of our day.”
It is organized under themes, such as Ultimate Reality, Divine Law, Evil and Sin, Religious Life, Faith, Self-Denial, Life After Death, and many others, and has become recognised by many religious scholars and theologians as an excellent basis for interfaith dialogue.
Gratitude was the topic chosen for the most recent meeting, held on June 25, 2026, at the prayer hall of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Prague. The event was attended by representatives from four religious traditions—Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and Unificationism—each of whom expressed their understanding of the concept of gratitude.
Gratitude stems from humility. In Islam, gratitude is a fundamental attitude toward life. Muhammad said, “Should I not be grateful to God?” Prayer is an act of humility.
We can cultivate gratitude in our daily lives. Some participants recommended keeping a gratitude journal.
The meeting generated many thought-provoking ideas about mutual understanding and respect for other religious traditions.
