On the 11th of June 2026, UPF West Midlands held the third in a series of Principles of Peace evenings.
The topic was God's work in history to bring us back to the original ideal of peace, emphasizing forgiveness and reconciliation.
Around 70 friends from different faiths, nationalities, races, and cultures attended—a melting pot of people from varied social backgrounds.
During the presentation, David Earle, director, UPF-West Midlands, mentioned several outstanding examples of people who practiced forgiveness in their lives, including Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, and Father and Mother Moon, who returned to North Korea at the risk of their lives. In order to meet with Kim Il Sung, who, in the past, had attempted to have Father Moon assassinated.
Then various people came up and shared real examples from their own faith traditions. It was so inspiring and educational.
Three Imams, six Christian ministers, and one Sikh leader, as well as one City Councilor and one former Lord Mayor, were among those attending. In addition, many new guests, young people, and many women...
After a quiet time of reflection, we finished with an interfaith song.
The atmosphere was warm and inclusive.
At this very challenging time in our world, it is so meaningful to bring together such a diverse group of people to take a stand for peace.
A number of those attending commented on this.
Thanks to everyone for your contribution!
