On the 12th February, 2026, UPF West Midlands held a World Interfaith Harmony Week event on the theme of 'Strengthening our Bonds of Friendship'.

Many religious leaders attended, as well as lots of grassroots activists, 75 people in total.

We had 4 wonderful speakers, Mark Gifford, executive officer of the Balaji Hindu Temple, Maureen Marsh, Christian therapist and counsellor, Sheikh Arif Abdul Hussain, founder and director of the Al Mahdi Institute and David Earle from the Universal Peace Federation.

Following the main speakers, we heard responses from 7 of our younger generation!

It was so inspiring, and hopeful, to hear the thoughts and voices of our young people.

We then read the Golden Rule from all our different faith traditions, how we should treat and care for one another with the feeling of being one family of humankind.

Then we concluded by singing 'Make Me a Channel of Your Peace', after which we shared some lovely food together, helping to renew and build friendships, the topic of our event!

Thank you for all those who contributed to make it such a successful evening.
